PaySimple is a versatile electronic payment collection tool that businesses rely on for a range of payment processing needs. Users have found value in its e-commerce and payment processing features, enabling them to effortlessly send out recurring invoices and collect payments with minimal customer interaction. This is particularly useful for businesses that require monthly recurring payments from retainer clients, as well as for one-off and yearly invoices. The software's payment portal feature has also been appreciated by users, providing a convenient solution for credit card payments, especially when clients prefer this method. Additionally, PaySimple offers customizable reporting features that allow businesses to track revenue, share employee revenue, and incentivize and provide bonuses - all of which have received positive feedback from users.

However, some users have encountered challenges with PaySimple. There have been instances where the processor abruptly shut down their CPA business and held funds for 180 days without any appeals or review process, which understandably caused frustration. Another concern raised by users is the monthly non-PCI compliance fee, which prompted a shift to an alternative payment software offered by a bank in one case.

Despite these challenges, PaySimple continues to be recommended by users for various use cases. For instance, it is highly recommended for schools looking for an online tuition payment solution that integrates seamlessly with Gradelink. Parents appreciate the convenience of making online payments without having to log into PaySimple separately. ACH payments are preferred by customers for services and subscriptions, as it offers ease of access and reduces administrative work compared to credit card payments. Overall, PaySimple stands as a reliable standalone solution for handling multiple billing needs such as point of sale transactions, recurring billing, and daily debits across a network of businesses.

PaySimple is used by accounting for payments and sales for deposit links to clients.
  • Extremely easy to reach a person who can diagnose and solve problems. Rarely more than one hand off.
  • Simple navigation and polished links for clients to use.
  • My DR's are able to produce reports quickly with the software.
  • More proactive and empowering role in merchant fee's and alternative processors. Transparency is challenging in understanding Paysimple's role and relationship to the processors.
  • Identifying areas for further value to clients.
  • More targeted small to mid-size business perspective to anticipate growth challenges and prevent blocks on funds for legitimate sales and growth.
Well suited to communicate with users and managers.
Well suited to provide technical assistance.
Less able to clarify security measures that negatively impact small businesses while it grows.
And excellent starting place for a new business.
  • Positive client interface and ease of deposit collections.
  • Negative impact in trying to understand full cost of cc processing.
+ Clean interface
+ Customer Service easily accessible
- Cost reporting simplicity

We use PaySimple across the whole businesses for electronic payment collection. I initially added it because we needed a simple, automated solution for sending out yearly recurring invoices and collecting payments with minimal customer interaction. We're not using the electronic invoicing feature any more but rely almost entirely on the e-commerce and payment processing features for collecting payments. We set up monthly recurring payments for our retainer clients and use the payment portal feature to collect one-off and yearly invoices.
  • PaySimple is awesome for recurring payments. It's easy to set one up and make changes as needed. Without this feature, our business would be dead. Being able to easily set up recurring payments for our retainer is a must and PaySimple does it beautifully.
  • The payment portal feature is also really good fro collecting payments of differing amounts. We setup a single portal where customers enter the payment amount accessed from a link in the invoice email. This feature has transformed out collections and cut down our time to get paid significantly.
  • If you do have product type offerings, it's easy to setup individual products or an entire store.
  • Collecting user entered recurring payment is a little unclear. We had to troubleshoot a bit to get this feature working properly.
  • If you don't want to use a total checkout solution (just want payment buttons), the process to set it up is a bit complicated. You have to create a product then add the payment form. It's not the most intuitive process and took a little trial and error to get it how we wanted.
We're a marketing agency and it's worked perfectly for our recurring payment retainers (same amount each month).

It would also work well for a company with a set product line up or a company that wants a more traditional "store" setup.
  • We've significantly cut down on invoice follow-up and payment times. This means better cash flow. We saw results within two months of implementing the payment system.
  • We were able to massively streamline payment collections for a low dollar service. It's taken a service that we were losing money on (in terms of follow-up time for payments) and made it profitable again within a few months.

Schools want parents to be able to pay tuition online. I recommend them to get a PaySimple account which has a free integration with Gradelink. This allows parents to log into Gradelink and make online payments from within the app. Parents don't need to log into paysimple.com (or even know the company name) to make a payment.
  • Really good support and service. It's rare that a payment company answers their phone.
  • Really simple UI. It's so easy to understand and use.
  • Nice free add-ons such as the free booking solution and the free online store option.
  • It'd be nice if they were to integrate with online form tools such as formstack.com, wufoo.com, jotform.com etc.
  • It'd be nice if there was a payment option which didn't include a monthly fee but had a higher transaction fee. This is good for people who get donations or payments infrequently. For that group, PayPal is the best option because Paypal has no monthly fee but a high transaction fee.
Great if you have a high volume of transactions on a regular basis. Even better if all your transactions occur on the same day of the month because you'll save money on the deposit fee (batch fee). Also good if you want a really really simple UI and good support. Not good if you want to link a payment solution to your retail website for an online shopping cart or if you want a massive POS system.
  • Because we've got a really awesome rate with them it's definitely a positive ROI. I can't say what that figure is but it's pretty good. Also, our customers have a huge ROI over their prior way of getting payment from their customers.
PayPal has no monthly but a high transaction fee. PaySimple has a low transaction but high monthly fee. So if you do a lot of transactions (like over 70K/mo) you should consider PaySimple.

We use PaySimple for most of our billing related needs. PaySimple does offer an integrated calendar scheduling feature called BookSimple that we have not implemented. What I appreciate about PaySimple is how easy it is to set up and edit a payment schedule as well as the features available for customized reporting necessary for revenue tracking, employee revenue sharing, incentives, and bonuses.
  • Integrated Web Payment Platform
  • Reporting and RSS Feeds of commonly viewed reports
  • Payment scheduling and recurring payment schedules
  • Customer Service and Chat Support
  • There are some features that we used in Classic PaySimple that did not migrate to the new Point of Sale solution that we've grown to love. Unfortunately because of those oversights we are operating through both interfaces. However the fact that the option was available so that the features were not entirely lost is impressive in it of itself.
  • There is an ability to add custom fields per transaction which for us would be extremely helpful if when added to a recurring payment schedule they would translate from a reporting standpoint with each subsequent payment. However... a custom field about a specific payment that is part of a larger payment schedule is not eligible for reporting purposes and therefor is essentially a useless feature at this time.
  • PaySimple should implement a feature I've heard referred to as 'account updater'. If a customer receives a new card replacing one that is soon to expire, there is technology available to recognize this and update the information with the merchant so that a recurring payment scheduled doesn't fail when a customer forgets to call with the updated expiration date.
PaySimple is extremely well suited if you run payments and set up payment profiles through an online gateway. I don't believe it is suited for API integrations between their merchants and your own internal software or CRM solutions.
  • It has been positive in that it has made it far easier for us to follow up on and correct billing issues.
  • The emails that go out referencing failed payments, updated payment schedules, refunds, etc... are all automatic and editable.
  • The RSS report feeds make it easy to establish the reports you need each day right in your inbox to follow up on billing related issues.
Authorize.net and a handful of other merchant processors and gateways. Most payment gateways (online portals to process payments) are rudimentary and not extremely intuitive. PaySimple is not and they are constantly coming up with new ways to improve upon an already very impressive platform.

Paysimple is used across our entire network. It is really great to have one standalone solution.
  • Invoicing and Recurring Payments
  • Customer CRM
  • eCommerce Forms
  • You have to use the "Customer Name" and not Company name. We deal a lot with companies. More than individuals.
  • You cannot add links to forms for them to accept Terms and Conditions.
Recurring payments are great! When it comes to come other stuff like reporting, it could use some work.
  • It has saved us money by way of employee time to do certain tasks.
Way better processing, customer service and invoicing with PaySimple.
